Crocs appoints marketing chief

Crocs names Sackmann vice president of marketing

NIWOT, Colo. (AP) -- Crocs Inc., known for its colorful plastic shoes, named Andy Sackmann its new chief marketing officer.

Sackmann joined Crocs as vice president of marketing in June 2011 and led the company's global e-commerce team, among other duties. In his new role, he will lead all aspects of Crocs' marketing; including the company's brand, advertising, consumer promotions and online communications campaigns.

Before joining Crocs, Sackmann served as account director at advertising firm Crispin Porter & Bogusky.

Crocs CEO and President John McCarvel said that Sackmann played a key role in helping the company improve revenue and engage customers.

Crocs, based in Niwot, Colo., had been struggling with softer sales of its shoes. It reported a loss in its fourth quarter, but the company expects to earn a profit in its first quarter.
