Crowdlanced (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the launch of the world’s first online marketplace focused on providing full service website design, banner ads and logos in a contest format.
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) August 29, 2011
Targeted towards cost conscious entrepreneurs and small businesses, Crowdlanced uses a website design contest model to generate creative designs where website designers compete with each other by submitting customized design entries. Customers then choose their favorite design and a prize is awarded to the winning designer. Crowdlanced also offers coding services so that websites can be done from start to finish without leaving the platform.
The benefits of such a platform include the convenience of an integrated website-making solution, the affordability compared to brick-and-mortar website design agencies, the choice and customization available to customers, as well as the peace-of-mind of having an intermediary monitoring the entire process. Furthermore, the platform allows the customer to reduce the risk of hiring any one individual freelancer.
“We are interested in lessening the barriers for any entrepreneur or small business to market itself online,” says Co-Founder Andrew Wang. “One of the best ways to market yourself is with a customized, fully branded website. The problem is that there was no risk-free option to make fully branded websites for the budget conscious entrepreneur until now.”
The contest model Crowdlanced uses is called “crowdsourcing”, a term coined by Jeff Howe in Wired magazine, which describes the latest trend in organizing labor. The act of crowdsourcing is essentially an open call to a community, asking its members to tackle a problem, instead of the traditional route of identifying one specific person or organization to solve the problem.
Well-known brands all over the world have begun using this concept as it is more cost-efficient, and often results in a broader range of creative ideas. Examples include My Starbucks Idea, Dell’s IdeaStorm, and BMW’s Customer Innovation Lab.
“Crowdlanced applies crowdsourcing to its website design, which is subjective by nature. We also provide coding services as well, something that has been largely ignored by the community,” Philip Du, Co-Founder of Crowdlanced says. “We are the first and only crowdsourced solution that does both website design and coding at an affordable cost.”
Zahra Kassam, a Marketing Associate at the Company adds, “Previously, this type of one-stop shop solution was only possible with large brick-and-mortar website design agencies where customers are charged on an hourly basis, often at a hefty premium. Customers don’t know whether they will like the final work, or whether the project will finish within the quoted time. In both cases, they run the risk of having to pay extra to get things done.”
Crowdlanced offers a full refund if customers do not receive the minimum number of designs to choose from, which can be up to 40 designs, depending on the package chosen.
