Curacao holds bag from missing Missoni plane

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao (AP) — Authorities in Curacao say they have not yet received a formal request to release a bag found on the Dutch Caribbean island that was aboard a missing plane carrying the CEO of an Italian fashion house.

A spokesman for Curacao's prosecutor's office says he has not heard from officials in Venezuela, where the plane carrying Vittorio Missoni is believed to have vanished on Jan. 4. Norman Serphos said Tuesday that he believed the bag belongs to an Italian who missed the flight based on information from Italian authorities and media reports.

A German tourist found the bag in late January along Curacao's north coast. It was the first sign of debris from the missing plane.

Curacao lies about 200 miles (320 kilometers) west of Los Roques, where the plane departed for Venezuela's capital.
