    Curtis & Windham Architects Recognized with Five Design Awards and Joins Online Community of Leading Designers

    Five residences and a garden designed by Curtis & Windham Architects have received awards from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. Following that honor, Curtis & Windham announced their official participation in Dering Hall as a founding designer.

    Five residences and a garden designed by Curtis & Windham Architects have received awards from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Texas Chapter's first annual John Staub Award program. The five houses recognized were the Knollwood Residence, a stucco and clay-roof house modeled on the architecture of Charles Platt; the Inwood Pool Pavilion, an entertainment structure that maintains a modest scale with the historic main house designed by John Staub; the Inverness Residence, a limestone residence designed after an 18th century French house that maintains the neighborhood scale; and the Willowick Residence, an eclectic English residence that incorporates regional materials and sites comfortably in its bayou setting. Curtis & Windham’s landscape design was recognized for the Knollwood Residence gardens, where the design of outdoor spaces supports the rhythm and massing of the façade in part by defining an oval lawn, a hornbeam bosque, and a poolside pergola. All projects honored by these awards are located in River Oaks and Shadyside, two historic neighborhoods in Houston, Texas. The John Staub Awards recognize superior Classical and traditional architecture, landscape architecture, and craftsmanship completed by firms based in the State of Texas.

    Shortly after their work was recognized by the John Staub Awards, Curtis & Windham Architects announced their official participation in Dering Hall as a founding designer. The website, launched in October, is an online community of the world’s leading interior designers, architects, artisans and design dealers. The site provides a platform to share and communicate with a design-minded audience and is a forum for design inquiries, an online shop for locating and purchasing unique products, as well as a national design directory.
