Samsung's rumored Galaxy Note 4 will reportedly debut with a curved AMOLED display when it launches later this year. The phablet, which is expected to bow at the IFA conference in Berlin this September, would arrive around the same time as the rumored iPhone 6, which will likely sport a larger display.

According to The Korean Times, which cites an unnamed executive of a Samsung partner company, the curved version of the Note 4 will be a one-off device meant for sale in certain niche markets. Another version would be flat.

Previous leaks pointed to the Note 4 packing a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display. If the handset does come in two versions, it's likely that the flat screen variant will come with a sharper QHD display, while the curved edition would get a 1080p resolution screen.

Inside, the Note 4 will reportedly boast some beastly specs, including Qualcomm's new quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and a 16-megapixel rear camera, SamMobile reports. Unfortunately, that's about all the information there is about the Galaxy Note 4 thus far. We still haven't heard anything about what kind of new stylus functionality the phablet may include, nor do we know what the handset will look like.

Samsung is no stranger to releasing smartphones with curved displays. It's Galaxy Round, which it debuted last year, featured a 1080p curved Super AMOLED screen, which was bent along its vertical axis.

LG also released a curved handset dubbed the G Flex, which sported a 720p curved screen bent along its horizontal axis. Unlike the Round, however, the G Flex was also flexible and could be flattened and return to its naturally curved shape without suffering any deleterious affects.
