The World Health Organization reported today that processed and red meat consumption can lead to colon cancer. The new report places processed meat in the highest category of agents classified as carcinogenic to humans, alongside cigarettes, alcohol and asbestos. Red meat is classified in the second-highest category of known carcinogens. The WHO's study was published in the UK Medical Journal The Lancet.
