Dating site ElenasModels.com released survey data “Why Western Men Seek Russian Women”, based on an online focus group for the website’s users listing reasons why men seek 'Russian brides'. Among most quoted reasons are Russian women’s strong family values and decline in family values in today’s western culture.

The term “Russian brides” commonly refers to women from the post-Soviet space seeking partners outside of their home countries, and includes Russian women, Ukraine women, Belarus women, Kazakhstan women, Asian women from former Soviet republics, as well as Russian and Russian-speaking women living in western countries and abroad.
Male respondents included western men from the USA, Australia, South Africa, UK, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Finland and other European countries, with the majority of respondents to the survey coming from the United States.
Among the most common reasons driving western men to seek ‘Russian brides’ are:

Strong family values of Russian women and Eastern European women in general;
- Decline in family values in the USA and western societies;
- Russian women’s attractive looks, clothing and grooming on Russian dating sites;
- Increased obesity and casual looks of western and American women on local dating sites;
- Men’s desire to start a family and inability to meet a partner of childbearing age at their home countries;
- Less materialistic attitude of Russian women with higher emphasis on self-development and realization.
Less often quoted reasons included men’s desire to meet a much younger woman and the opportunity to make a relationship more exciting, with international dating opening new ideas, experiences and insights.
A large number of recipients pointed out that they were not specifically seeking Russian women, Ukrainian women of women from the former Soviet Union, but were simply looking for the right partner and having little success with local dating sites, decided to broaden their search and joined an international dating site.
