    Datum Helps Construction Supply Company to Create New Blueprint Storage System

    While most companies are able to take their document storage completely digital, construction companies like the Re-Steel Supply Company must still keep hard copies of their blueprints on file. These hard copy rolled plans need to be archived in an organized and space-efficient manner, which is exactly what Datum’s MobileTrak® Storage System offers.

    Re-Steel’s previous system consisted of laminated cubby holes stacked on top of each other which lacked both capacity and organization. Datum worked with Re-steel to create a customized storage system to better meet these needs. The new system combines the MobileTrak5® with the 4Post™ Shelving to create storage unique for housing blueprints.

    The 4Post™ shelves were customized to create eight cubes for each of the four sections of the MobileTrak5®. Each cube holds a large number of rolled plans, and can be labeled by month and year to increase organization. The MobileTrak5® is fitted with sectional back panels to keep the rolled plans from being pushed out of the back of the unit. The steel end-panels also allow the system to be securely locked to prevent access when required. This new system triples Re-Steel’s former storage capacity and allows for an efficient, more organized archiving system.

    “The customized storage we created to house Re-Steel’s blueprints demonstrates the diversity of Datum’s products,” said Thomas Potter, President of Datum. “They can be combined and transformed to meet any need.”

    Founded in 1968, Datum Filing is a second generation family-owned company that supplies storage and filing systems to meet almost any need. Starting with simple, desktop organization products, Datum has since grown into a 120,000 square foot facility located in Emigsville, Pennsylvania.
