‘Questionable’ Star Wars Toys Raise Eyebrows Online

US department store Target was left a little red-faced after a customer pointed out the questionable appearance of a set of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ toys.

The toys, in case you can’t figure it out based on the image alone (we couldn’t) are for children to play with while swimming, and are based on Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and a Stormtrooper.

Joni Jones posted a picture of the phallic toys in good jest on Target’s Facebook page (via The Telegraph), but the posting was taken down following a response from a Target member of staff.

“Are we sure these are children’s toys, Target? Looks a little questionable to me,” said Jones.

“Hi Joni,” read the response from Target. “We apologise for your disappointment. Occasionally, we carry merchandise that some guests may find objectionable, as was your experience. We never want to offend anyone and have shared this with our Merchandise team for review.”

On Facebook Jones later said: “I posted it because I found it funny and wanted to share with fellow adults who could appreciate the humour in the whole thing.”

A description of the toys says: “These fun water toys are great for swim practice to encourage new swimmers, or to play with out of the pool on a rainy day.”
