Speaking on this morning’s Lorraine, the 30-year-old opened up about her cancer battle and how difficult she found it to cope after finding out she was suffering from the disease.

“It took a long time for me to piece my life back together.

"It’s a long recovery process - but the hospital I was in really saved my life. I’ve been working with the staff there ever since to hopefully make a difference to other people who are going through cancer.”

In 2003, when she was just 20 years old, the former Neighbours actress was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease - cancer of the lymphatic system after finding a lump in her neck that she originally thought was a swollen gland.

After rounds of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Delta was given the all-clear five years after her diagnosis.

However, now the Australian pop star is hoping that she can use her experience of the disease to provide hope to others in similar circumstances.

Opening up about the time she found out she had cancer, Delta added: “When I was diagnosed, I was at number one in the charts, I was jumping around from coast to coast. It just goes to show that health doesn’t discriminate.

"I hope that my story can be seen as a pillar of hope.”

We think it’s safe to say that it will be.
