Delta passenger accused of threatening seatmate

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City man faces federal felony charges after authorities say he threatened a seatmate on a Las Vegas-bound flight.

The Deseret News (http://bit.ly/qO6bJS ) reports 60-year-old David Alan Anderson was charged Tuesday with having a dangerous weapon on an aircraft and retaliation against a federal law enforcement officer by threat of murder.

Court documents allege that before his Delta flight's scheduled departure Sunday, Anderson elbowed the passenger next to him to "claim" an armrest, then placed his foot on the person's leg, prompting the seatmate to tell Anderson to move over.

The complaint says Anderson threatened the passenger saying, "If I have a knife, I would slit your throat."

The complaint says responding officers found a knife in Anderson's bag. After his arrest, the complaint says, he threatened police and FBI agents.

How did he have a knife in his bag? My last flight, they took my hair shampoo and this guy has a knife in his bag.

Quaility of airport security is so random. Recently I flew round trip from Phoenix to Portland. Leaving Phoenix every single passenger was body scanned. Returning home, I had a cigarette lighter, a FULL large tube of toothpaste (could just as easily been explosives), and 3 electronic devices in my bag, switched on, and not a word was said.

Maybe he wore a turban to throw the TSA off the trail

I had 3 bottles of Victoria's Secret bubble bath they confiscated like it was a deadly weapon! Then they made me go through the body scanner...again! Now if I had a knife next to the bubble bath I might have been able to pass (with everything)!...*rolling eyes*.
Honestly though...I don't mind the extra stuff they have to do to assure our safety....but DO your jobs so the nutcases with the knives do not get through!!!! You have no problem finding my bubblebath...jeeesh ;)

The crazy old coot dont have 30 years left on the planet. He must have escaped from some looney bin.TSA is doing a fine job feeling up Nuns and little kids.LOL.

This old coot could have had 10 knives and it wouldn't have made any difference. He would have been jumped by the passengers at some point and they would have ripped his arms off and beat him with the bloody stumps.I think we've learned a little something since 9-11. Knives and box cutters just wont "CUT IT" any more .LOL.

Question.....how the h@ll did the knife get onto the plane...isn't the TSA checking the passengers? All the screening crew on-duty that day need to be written up for failure to do their jobs.

Ja, je, ja, je.... he probably was too ugly and the TSA did not want to touch him at all...... in the other hand if he would be a 95 years old granny they could probably check her out and ask to check hers elderly daiper as well ......

And I see a lot of these people on the comment sections of Yahoo Articles. Bigoted, Hypocritical, Moronic Comments which also contain empty threats because they don't have any common decency or compassion.

The TSA has color X-ray machines to scan our carry-ons, and they still missed this guy's knife! So, do the TSA agents responsible deserve to be publicly strip-searched?
