    Democrats Bailing on Obama

It Isn't Just for Republicans Anymore

COMMENTARY | In 2008, a mystery candidate named Barack Obama made history by becoming the first African American president of the United States.

Today, Obama has a record, a very public record, with very real consequences. Among his most notable achievements: the most deficit spending of any president from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, stagnant unemployment, a record number of Americans living below poverty level and dependent on some form of government assistance and the first downgrade of the U.S. credit rating in United States history -- all while setting the national record for most rounds of golf played by a sitting president.

Republicans and the tea party tried to warn you. But most didn't listen. They were too busy chanting Hope and Change and calling anyone who didn't buy into it a racist. Now, as all those admonitions of economic and social chaos continue to come to ugly fruition, even Congressional Democrats, liberal pundits, pollsters and once rabidly loyal members of the mainstream media are starting to squirm with discomfort.

It's all about saving face, mind you. They knew the chaos would come too. They just know it's just getting harder for them to keep spinning three years of failure into a believable success story without looking like a fool. So now, just as Bush loyalists turned on George near the end of his struggling presidency, the most devoted of Obama's public relations support unit are bailing.

In August, Politico reported Democrat strategist James Carville offering a single word of advice for the struggling president: "Panic." On Monday, Patrick Caddell, President Carter's pollster, and Douglas Schoen, who advised President Bill Clinton's re-election, suggested through an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that it's time for Obama to "step aside" and give the nomination to Hillary Clinton.

According to a recent CNN/ORC International Poll 26 percent of Democrats would prefer that their party nominate another candidate for president. While that is hardly a majority, that number was only 18 percent a month ago.

In September, after listening to Obama's absurd class warfare rhetoric that the "millionaires and billionaires" need to pay their "fair share" of taxes, even the Associated Press had to call him out and bear the facts that prove "they already are."

Because of their highly unpopular fiscal policies, like Obamacare and the waste of his 2009 trillion-dollar stimulus, Democrats were pummeled in the 2010 midterms. Losses in the Sept. 13 House special elections in New York and Nevada were again attributed directly to Obama.

In anticipation of another drubbing in 2012, seventeen House Democrats - including the 16-term Democrat from Massachusetts, Rep. Barney Frank -- have decided not to seek reelection.

As Obama tours the country on his own reelection tour, incumbent Democrats who want to keep their seats are avoiding him like the plague.

After contacting over a dozen Democrats in the moderate Blue Dog Caucus Politico found only a few were even "willing to comment on whether they supported Obama's reelection bid."

Unable or simply unwilling to come through with those promises of Hope and Change the New York Times reported that Democratic operatives for the 2012 election have decided that "the party will explicitly abandon the white working class."

Once believing she and her husband were "well beyond the hot dogs and beans era" of their lives and finding herself "exhausted" at defending Obama - the man "who said he was going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class," Velma Hart asked the president to his face at a Washington D.C. town hall a year ago. "Is this my new reality?"

Having observed the stark difference between Obama "talk" and Obama "reality" for three years even Chris 'I Use to Have a Thrill Up My Leg' Matthews wants to know; "Is this it? Is this as good as it gets?"

According to Gallup, 60 percent of Americans disapprove of Obama's effort to create jobs, 67 percent disapprove of his handling of the economy and the deficit and 73 percent believe it's all getting worse.

Republicans and the tea party tried to warn you. Now, after three years of the economic chaos Obama has inflicted upon the nation, their new message is simply; "We told you so."

Are they bailing out on Obama, or are they incumbents and they know that what they have not done is going to catch up to them? The people are mad as H#$%! Are these congress people smart enough to know this and they are getting out while they can, to avoid the disgrace of a voters revolt and being not elected? Are the incumbent Republicans smart enough to realize this? The people, are mad and they don't want to vote for any of the incumbents. The problem is getting good people in office, to replace what we have, without getting any worse. But when you look at what we have put up with for the past 20 years, how could they get much worse?

Why do they keep calling Obama the first black president. He is as much white as he is black.
      • CNN-NBC-ABC-CBS -is- BS 5 mths ago
Well if you you're asking the democrats the answer is they want the black vote, (and Minority)so it's beneficial to them to say he's black..When they want him to be white it's to take the heat off of him when he does something, so it won't be blamed on him because he is black...It's most beneficial to him to be black when they want to call the republicans racists......That blew up in their faces when many of us WHITE people were behind Herman Cain. That is until The democrats with their dirty politics ruined the mans chances. Now just enough of the voting public question rather he speaks the truth...It was a live assassination! I believe he was a breath of fresh air that was crucified without any proof what-so-ever as far as I'm concerned the more women that come out the more it appears to be just what it was a dirty dirty smear tactic...Democrats should be ashamed...
      • k 5 mths ago
The WHITE people, as you wrote, had no real intention on voting for Cain, and now that he's toast, you can thank his bad judgment and horrible taste in women, and not exterior forces, for relieving you of the mental gymnastics of trying to decide between a black buffoon and a white one. This way, you can just vote for the white one, like you've always done, and be done.

@K...YOUR OPINION is nothing more than leftist lies...as we have all come to expect!!! Ignorance continues to row on a burning ship.

Look, it says "The Democrats will explicitly abandon the white working middle class." First of all, that's racist, secondly no wonder why I did not get any money from that stimulus bill.
      • c 5 mths ago
No, Campion's piece [the "it" to which you refer?] says that someone else says that someone says. The final someone else's are what she calls "Democratic operatives", who, she claims, have "decided to abandon the white working middle class." [1] No operatives have been authorized to decide policy for the DP, or the RP for that matter, and discuss it in print. [2] Two of the so-called operatives, Carville and Greenberg, even wrote: "The white non-college-educated voters in these groups were particularly fed-up with politics altogether…Re-engaging them will be a difficult project, but it is certainly possible."
      • Last Crusader 5 mths ago
This was a CNN commentary today by Jack Cafferty on the Democrats abandoning the white middle class worker. And as Jack always says , you can go to his link on the CNN website.
      • c 5 mths ago
Cafferty acknowledged right away that this "huge" bombshell came from the "Opinion Pages" of the NYT. Good for him. Then he went on to cite opinion + opinion + opinion and assumed he had a fact: that the democratic party has officially decided to abandon working-class whites. This line of reasoning is not logical, nor is the assumption that either party will have already written off blocks of voters and be sending forth representatives to discuss it on the opinion pages of the world.

Every president when assuming the office inherits problems left over by the previous administation. His job is to deal withe them as well as push his agenda. I t is not his job to sit around whining about the problems he inheerited, after all he knew they existed whem he ran for the office and the solution is not found by hitting the links.
    • ustaknow  •  5 mths ago
Well I hope we all realize that Washington politicians ( Dems and Pubs) are bought and paid for.
It is called Cronyism and a result of efforts on behalf of any one organization ( collective group) to Lobby ( request made by the aforementioned group) by promise of favor( political donations, all expense paid trips, outright fee for speaking engagement or other nefarious means).
We as a nation are being led by a Few that create propaganda ( political fodder ) for the many to cause factions and division among the masses.
The one says about the other ( You are republiCON and bought and paid for by Wallstreet)
The Other says ( You are a DemocRAT) giving tax dollars to foreign countries and welfare babies)
Both are partially right but the point is the division is enough to divert the real attention away from what really ails us , which is the System structure has evolved to function in a manner that profits the few ( Government workers and Politicians) - for it is when these few are most profitable that the benefactors ( the Lobbyist mentioned above) are most appeased.

The trouble with the system is multifaceted in nature- for on one hand it requires massive spending- on a level that eclipses the revenue that it brings in which results in a cry for more revenue which brings out a group of peasants that are known by some as the TEA PARTY ( Taxed enough Already) .

And yet on the other hand the system rewards the benefactors (Lobbyist) who reward their selves with absurd pay scales which brings out the other side known as the Occupiers ( the group of people who are now being pepper sprayed at UC DAVIS) that recognize that the System is dysfunctional and rewards disproportionately ,the Lobbyist, and when they talk about it are now being put into a political context by the media to prop up the beliefs that the individual writer has come to know or believe due to years of propaganda by the FEW ( FEW = government politicians)

The end result is a chaotic division that has an underlying sense of "Symmetry" that both parties ( The Tea party and The Occupiers) sense but have yet to put into context exactly what their Base Gut instincts are telling them.

In the balance of the story you have the common man and woman ( regular folk, working class folk, everyday Joe " You and me") that recognize that both factions ( Tea Party and Occupiers) are somehow right but on the other hand wrong- so we have to make the wrong make sense and to do so we revert back to what we have been taught throughout the ages by the FEW with their propaganda.

We need all Americans to stand up and say that hey the TEA PARTY and The Occupiers are partly right and therefore cant be all wrong so we will hear them out on this matter.

I feel like the the trouble with the system can be fixed- it will require a revolution at the voting booth that surrounds sound business principals applied to the revenue that we take in. We cant spend more than we take in and Government employees and politicians should not be paid excessively ( like fortune 500 companies) but rather like a scale of the common workers)
The public sector should not be the most desired or coveted place to work because it pays more than the private sector- the private sector imo is any business that is not a publicly traded company.

p.s. There is nothing broken that can not be fixed even if the fix requires replacing that which is broken.

With Kindest personal regard I am hoping

( Hoping that Occupiers and The Tea party can be supported by the Common man or woman who know that both are partly right and yet needs a gelling factor so we can take the good and leave the bad and coalesce)

Liberals now blame Congress (Democratically controlled 2006 - 2010) and believe Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize... for what? - Nothing. The same accomplishments that he was elected president with. No substance, no idea about how to create private sector jobs, and masterful at playing the blame game with his favorite word - "frustration".

Remember democrats wetting their beds about Bush playing golf ? Obama has played more rounds than any other president in history and not a peep. Remember when unemployment was 5% and democrats calling it the ''Worst economy since the depression''? Now they're calling 9% a success. Remember obama calling deficits and raising the debt ceiling ''Reckless and irresponsible''. So what do you call quadrupaling the deficits? Criminal?

Government has proven that they are not the most efficient allocators of capital
Example; Solyndra ( 535million spent and no jobs)
Private sector spending quite different- so take the money away from the government and put it back in the hands of the private sector

You can talk all day long about The Obozo stepping aside, but his ego is far too big to do it. And with the people being fooled by the Friday retail reports, the 0.5% GDP number coming in 2012 Q1 is going to be the death nail in The Obozo's coffin.
