Dental products maker Dentsply raises dividend by less than a penny, or 14 pct, to 6.25 cents

YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Dental products maker Dentsply said Tuesday that it was raising its quarterly dividend by less than a penny, or 14 percent, to 6.25 cents.

The York, Pa., company's next dividend is payable on April 12 to shareholders on March 29. It had been paying a 5.5-cent dividend. The last time it increased the payment was in November 2011.

Dentsply International Inc. makes equipment for dentists and orthodontists. In 2012, Dentsply's profit rose 29 percent to $314.2 million, or $2.18 per share, while revenue increased 15 percent to $2.93 billion.
