In-depth comparison shows the Galaxy S6 edge has the best smartphone camera ever

Still debating over which new smartphone you want to buy? While there’s an embarrassment of riches to choose from right now, people who prize having a first-rate camera above all else are going to have a hard time resisting the Galaxy S6 edge. A huge in-depth camera comparison published by DXOMark this week shows that the Galaxy S6 edge easily bests the iPhone 6 Plus, the Galaxy Note 4 and every other flagship phone on the planet to claim the title of best smartphone camera ever.

What makes the Galaxy S6 edge’s camera so good? In terms of still photos, DXOMark found that roughly matched the iPhone 6 Plus in terms of exposure and contrast while besting Apple’s bigger iPhone in the realms of color accuracy, autofocus, texture and cancelling out noise. When it comes to shooting videos, the Galaxy S6 edge bested the iPhone 6 Plus in every category except color accuracy. That said, DXOMark has found that all three phones’ cameras have significant issues with stabilization in video shooting, which should be an area for future improvement.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen camera shootouts that show how incredible the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge’s cameras are, as previous comparisons have shown that Samsung’s newest phones are better than anything else on the market, especially when it comes to low-light photography.
