Destiny Tops UK Chart, With Xbox Sales Maintaining Pace

Destiny has become the fastest-selling new game IP in the UK, according to official sales monitor Chart-Track.
The previous record holder was another cross-gen title released this year, Watch Dogs by Ubisoft, which sold about 4 million copies worldwide in its first week. Activision has not disclosed Destiny's sales.
As expected, Bungie's blockbuster FPS has debuted straight at the top of the UK charts, surpassing EA's The Sims 4.
The PlayStation 4 version of Destiny took the lion's share of sales, at 46 per cent, though the Xbox One version was close behind at 36 per cent (despite Microsoft's ban on officially advertising the game).
Last-gen made up 17 per cent of sales in total, with Xbox 360 taking 14 per cent of that.
It means that, overall, Destiny sold half its units on Xbox platforms--a significant feat considering Sony and its marketing department was treating Destiny as a first-party title.
Elsewhere in the charts, Activision's other blockbuster FPS franchise--Call of Duty--rose to forth place, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of Minecraft stay in the top ten. This comes ahead of an expected announcement on Monday that Microsoft will purchase Minecraft developer Mojang for a fee believed to be more than $2 billion.
