Destiny Xbox One Supports Pre-Loading

The Xbox One version of Bungie's upcoming shooter Destiny will support pre-loading, Microsoft has confirmed. That means you'll be able to pre-purchase the game and download it so you can start playing exactly at midnight on Tuesday, September 9.

The confirmation of the pre-load option for Destiny on Xbox One comes after an Xbox.com listing--which has since been removed--revealed that this would be the case. This listing said the game would unlock at 12:01 AM PDT/3:01 AM EDT on September 9.

A Microsoft representative confirmed that Destiny for Xbox One will support pre-loading in a statement to Polygon. The game's file size was not specified, though details should be announced soon. "We'll have more details to share soon about the pre-order and pre-download window for Destiny," Microsoft said.

At Gamescom, Microsoft announced that pre-purchasing and pre-loading would begin on Xbox One with FIFA 15 (September 26) and Forza Horizon 2 (September 30). But in fact, the feature kicked off with Madden NFL 15 last week. Pre-loading support for PlayStation 4 was announced in June; Destiny will also support pre-loading on Sony's console.

Destiny is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Bungie recently confirmed that the game will not support player-to-player trading, at least not at launch. For more on Destiny, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
