A former Shell station on the corner of Sixth and Harrison streets that has sat empty for years is now gearing up to become eight stories of new housing, according to a Preliminary Project Assessment
submitted to Planning. The proposed building would hold 116 new very small units. Although 47 are set to be two-bedrooms, the average size of all units would be only 553 square feet
. Twenty units would be below market rate, although Planning notes that if developers upped that percentage from 17.5 percent to 20 percent, the project would qualify for priority processing. Plans also include 87 parking spots, a bike parking room, and 4,820 square feet of ground-floor retail.
