Dexpot review

Inspired by Mac OS X and Linux, Dexpot brings multiple desktops to Windows, allowing you to manage the windows, icons, wallpapers, and themes on dozens of virtual desktops through several highly intuitive features, including taskbar previews, context menus, hot corners, and keyboard shortcuts.

Pros

Advanced desktop management: Dexpot brings advanced desktop management to Windows. Just like Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows 10 for that matter, you can now have multiple desktops with different windows, icons, themes, and backgrounds open at the same time.

Powerful keyboard shortcuts: Multiple desktops are nothing if you don't have a way to quickly switch between them. With this app you can assign keyboard shortcuts to every desktop, as well as to other functions, such as showing an overview of all desktops at once or moving windows from one desktop to another.

Sizable plug-in collection: As powerful as the app is out of the box, it comes with an array of optional plug-ins that further extend its functionality. We're fans especially of MouseEvents, which adds hot corners to the app, making it possible to quickly switch between desktops without using a keyboard.

Cons

Occasional performance issues: While testing the app, we occasionally experienced sluggishness and choppy animations, especially when we were stress-testing our system and switching desktops.

Bottom Line

If your desktop is always cluttered with dozens of windows, each belonging to a different app, you owe it to yourself and your sanity to try Dexpot. That's because having the ability to organize your windows and apps into their separate spaces boosts your productivity and makes working on your PC more enjoyable.
