Diane Lane Joins Liam Neeson In Watergate Biopic ‘Felt’

Now that Liam Neeson is aboard to play Watergate’s famed Deep Throat W. Mark Felt, the Peter Landesman spy thriller Felt is starting to pick up steam.

Diane Lane has just been cast to play Felt’s wife, Audrey. It was she who took on much of the burden when Felt, then a deputy FBI director, secretly helped Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein follow the Watergate break-in to the White House, eventually leading to the resignation of Richard Nixon.

The pic, also written by Landesman, begins shooting in March 2016. It’s the second tie-up between writer-director and Scott Free Productions’ Giannina Scott and Ridley Scott, following the Will Smith-starrer Concussion which bows from Sony on Christmas Day. MadRiver Pictures will finance and produce Felt alongside Scott Free, Playtone and Cara Films.

Lane, who is up next in Trumbo, is repped by UTA.
