Disney Channel’s ‘The Lion Guard’ Movie Gets Premiere Date & Teaser

Disney’s latest incarnation of its massive franchise The Lion King now has an airdate and a first-look teaser: The Lion Guard: Return Of The Roar TV movie will premiere November 22 at 7 PM on Disney Channel. The Disney Television Animation pic, which features a voice cast including Rob Lowe, Gabrielle Union, Max Charles, Atticus Shaffer and Sarah Hyland, is part of a coordinated rollout of the reboot over the next month and serves as the launch point into a new Lion Guard TV series to bow early next year. The teaser debuts tonight during the Disney Channel original movie Invisible Sister.

With a few nods to the original 1994 feature film, the new iteration introduces Kion (Charles), the second-born cub of Simba (Lowe) and Nala (Union), who is destined to become leader of the Lion Guard. Kion bucks tradition to choose his team, opting instead of fellow lions for friends he believes best exemplify heroic qualities: Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a friendly and good-spirited hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret.

The movie and the series were developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso), who executive produces.
