Djay 2 review

Djay 2 offers an intuitive DJ experience with solid features and a wonderful interface, and the same zero-latency that the iOS version of the app enjoys. More than an iOS port, this is a must-check app for any DJ.

Pros

Powerful yet intuitive: Djay 2 manages to pack all the essential tools a DJ needs in a neat interface that makes syncing, looping, and using equalizers and samples almost effortless. Features like automix, single deck portrait mode, and the potent mixer make this a great app for any DJ.

Excellent for parties: Thanks to the many auto features, including automix, auto-gain, automatic beat & tempo detection, and intelligent song matching, Djay 2 proves a highly appealing platform for any amateur DJ that wants to mix music for parties. It's much more portable than a turntable and offers enough features and a good enough sound quality to be an apt replacement for a laptop with DJ software on it.

Cons

Spotify limitation: Djay 2 lets you use 20 million songs from Spotify for mixes, provided that you subscribe to Spotify Premium, but Spotify isn't available in all countries. Other apps for DJs feature SoundCloud integration, making more songs available to a broader audience.

Lacks generic USB MIDI support: You can't connect your controller to this app but have to buy the DJ MIDI controller Reloop Beatpad, the only one supported.

Bottom Line

Djay 2 proves just as appealing as the original iOS app, being capable of satisfying the needs of amateur and professional DJs, alike. If you want a complete DJ experience on your Android tablet or smartphone, this is the app for you. It unleashes your creativity and can be as complex or as straightforward as you want.
