Dog from ‘The Artist’, cat take over Capitol Hill
Two big pet superstars were able to put bipartisan bickering on hold for at least one day in Washington, as some congress members from both parties talked about animal rights issues on Capitol Hill.

The bipartisan meeting was part of the annual Animal Health Institute Pet Night in Washington, D.C. The group promotes various animal wellness initiatives.
This year, Uggie the dog, the star of “The Artist,” appeared along with Tennessee the cat from “The Hunger Games.”
The recently retired Uggie, who played “Jack” in the movie, stole the show as he posed with Democrats and Republicans wearing a modified dog tuxedo.
Roll Call had a reporter at the event who said Tennessee the cat (who played Buttercup in the “Hunger Games”) seemed more interested in roaming the Cannon House Office caucus room than meeting with Uggie and the press.
The event has featured various celebrity animals over the years, including “Mr. Jinx” from “The Little Fockers” movies, the canine stars of “Entourage” and “Marmaduke,” and Bodie the dog from “Due Date.”
Omar von Muller, Uggie’s trainer, said his celebrity pet was spotted quickly on the Hill.
“We took some pictures around,” von Muller told Roll Call, saying that Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) ran into Uggie during a tour and also got their picture taken together. “Everybody recognized him outside and everybody wanted pictures.”
Other Uggie fans were Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), who put his Uggie photos on Facebook.
The dog’s last movie role was in “The Campaign.”
