Don’t expect U2’s latest album to be preloaded on your iPhone 6

After a MacRumors report said the iPhone 6 might come preloaded with a digital copy of U2’s latest album, a spokeswoman has denied the band’s involvement with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 event.

FROM EARLIER: The iPhone 6 is already preselling like crazy and it’s not even out yet

“They are not releasing their album on the iPhone, and they are not performing at the iPhone launch,” she said told Independent.ie.

Previously, it was reported that the famous band, which has appeared on stage during various other Apple events, filmed a special clip in Ireland that either features the iPhone 6, or is an actual iPhone 6 commercial. Details aren’t known at this time, but it appears that U2 did shoot a video in Dublin that’s been shrouded in secrecy.

“Trucks and black sheets were strategically placed to obscure what was happening from public view,” The Sunday Times wrote. “The council refused to divulge the reason for the closure and there were rumors of a project linked to U2’s long-anticipated 13th studio album, an advertisement for Guinness or a video for an unknown band.”

Music promoter Stephen Browne managed to snap a photo of the event and revealed that the focus of the video was actually a phone. However, the image (below) is too blurry to reveal anything.

Meanwhile, John Lennon’s son and friend of U2 reportedly told a fan site that the band might be shooting an Apple commercial.

Finally, Bono is expected to make a special appearance at Apple’s iPhone 6 event on September 9th, according to a tweet from CNET’s Shara Tibken.

Apple is also building a huge, mysterious structure near the iPhone 6 announcement venue, which was believed to be a concert stage, especially considering these U2-related iPhone 6 rumors.

“It looked like a sound stage going up for a rock concert behind Flint Center,” a Cupertino resident told San Jose Mercury News.

However, it appears U2 will have nothing to do with Apple’s iPhone 6 launch event… or so they say.
