London (AFP) - Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport was closed on Saturday after a plane suffered an undercarriage problem during landing.

The light aircraft was returning to South Yorkshire from Belfast City Airport on Friday evening, carrying one passenger and two crew.

The passenger was taken to hospital for checks, the airport said.

"At approximately 19:30...there was an incident involving a LinksAir flight at Doncaster Sheffield Airport," said a statement on the airport's official website.

"The aircraft was returning from Belfast City Airport and suffered a problem with the undercarriage during landing."

"As a consequence the Airport is currently closed and is not expected to reopen until mid morning August 16th," it added.
