    The Donor Solution Increases Asian Egg Donor Recruitment to Respond to Year of the Dragon Intended Parent Demand

    Desiring to have a “dragonbaby”, many in the Asian community are planning to start their families this year which is considered the luckiest year on the Chinese Zodiac calendar. A sharp increase in the need for Asian egg donors to fulfill these parents needs has been seen in the past 90 days. The countdown is on to conceive before May 19th.

    The Donor Solution, http://www.thedonorsolution.com, a Texas-based egg donation agency, has stepped up its donor recruitment efforts in the Asian community in order to keep up with a surge in requests for Asian egg donors from prospective parents who desire to have their baby in the Year of the Dragon.

    The Year of the Dragon is a once every 12 years occurence and according to Chinese Astrology runs from January 23, 2012 to February 9, 2013. The Year of the Dragon is considered to be the luckiest year of the Chinese zodiac cycle.

    “We have seen a 50 percent increase in calls from prospective parents who are of Asian descent,” said Mary Fusillo, Founder and Executive Director of The Donor Solution. “We already have a very impressive group of Asian women in our donor pool, but once we realized the increase in demand was corresponding with a desire to have a baby in the Year of the Dragon, we started working even harder to augment our current Asian donor pool.”

    The Year of the Dragon normally brings an increase in births in Asian countries. In fact, during the last Dragon year, Hong Kong saw a 5 percent increase in births and a recent poll conducted in Hong Kong reflected a majority (70 percent) of couples desired dragon babies, CBS reports.

    In the U.S., media outlets have been reporting a recent uptick in demand for fertility and obstetrician services in the Asian American community. Others in the fertility world have responded similarly to this Year of the Dragon demand.

    “One of our partner companies, Agency for Surrogacy Solutions, has even created a Dragon Baby Special, a personalized service that helps Chinese clients deliver babies in time through in vitro fertilization or surrogacy, connecting with bilingual fertility clinics and hiring Chinese translators,” said Fusillo. “We hope to participate in this growing trend by expanding our Asian donor pool and giving Asian parents that many more choices to grow their family in the Year of the Dragon.”
