Dothan man involved in deadly semi-truck crash

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Florida panhandle man is dead after a semi-truck crash involving two men from the Wiregrass in Calhoun County.

According to the Flordia Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old man from Bristol, Florida, was driving a Pepsi van eastbound on State Road 20 near Blountstown when the van swerved into the westbound lane and crashed head-on with a semi-truck driven by a 26-year-old-Dothan-man.

The man from Bristol was killed in the crash, but the Dothan man and his passenger in the semi-truck, a 24-year-old man from Midland City, suffered minor injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol does not release the names of those involved in fatal crashes.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m.

The FHP, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, the Blountstown Fire Department, and the West Side Fire Department responded to the scene.
