Driver dies after being trapped inside car that caught on fire

One person was killed Friday morning when their sport utility vehicle became engulfed in flames while they were driving and they could not get out.

According to police, the driver was traveling north on Greentop Road just south of Lincoln in Sussex County when their 1995 Chevrolet Blazer caught fire. The driver pulled off the road but was unable to free themself.

Delaware State Police said the victim's body was turned over to the Division of Forensic Science for identification.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours, police said.
