Dunedin WC cricket buff in line for share of 1 mln dollars for stunning one-handed catch

Wellington, Feb 22 (ANI): An ardent cricket fan from Dunedin has joined the list of people in line to grab a share of whooping one million US dollar for taking a spectacular one-handed catch during Sri Lanka's four-wicket win over Afghanistan in the World Cup Pool A tie on Sunday in Dunedin. The catcher, identified as Jamie Gough, became the third person to catch a one-handed six in the Tui Catch a Million contest at the cricket World Cup. Gough, who is a physiotherapist, said that he was numb, adding that he didn't know if he could catch one, Stuff.co.nz reported. Gough, who had been given ticket by his wife's friend, said that they just sat in the allocated seats and told his daughter about a minute before that this was quite a big hit for a six, adding that he didn't think they would get one from Afghanistan, at least, maybe Sri Lanka. The competition, launched by Tui brewery, would see the catchers being added to a prize pool where they could share up to one million dollars. The minimum guaranteed prize pool is 250,000 million dollars and it would grow if the Brendon McCullum-led side advances in the tournament. If New Zealand advance to the quarterfinals, the prize pool would be 350,000 million dollars and a semifinal berth would raise the prize money to 500,000 million dollars. While a final appearance would net 750,000, winning the Cup would raise it to one million dollars. (ANI)
