Duplicate File Finder searches your computer for copies of files and deletes them for you with your approval. Pros
Types of searches: In order to efficiently find the types of duplicate files you're looking for, you can choose one of two search methods. For instance, you can have the app search for files with the same name, or you can have it analyze the actual content of the files byte by byte to find files with different names but the same or very similar content.
Smooth process: To start the scanning process, all you need to do is drag and drop folders or browse to add them straight through the software. You can add as many of these as you'd like to at once, and the scans are completed quickly. Results show up in a clear list with all but one of the duplicates checked for deletion. However, if there is a particular version of the file you'd like to keep, you can adjust which copies are deleted. You can also decide whether you want to delete files permanently or just move them to the Recycle Bin for the moment.
Cons
Cluttered interface: You have to scan through all of the Pro options to find the few features available to free users, which can be both time consuming and frustrating.
Bottom Line
Duplicate File Finder works smoothly and offers a nice set of features. Even the free version works well and can help you free up a lot of space on your hard drive, as long as you don't mind working around all the Pro options displayed in the interface.
