Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Baywatch’ Movie Casts Jon Bass

Jon Bass has joined Paramount’s movie reboot of the 1990s television series “Baywatch,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera and Kelly Rohrbach have been cast in “Baywatch.” The film is directed by Seth Gordon.

Producers are Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman with Johnson and partner Dany Garcia producing in some capacity. Executive producers are Tom Pollock, Greg Bonnan, Michelle Berk, Michael Berk, Doug Schwartz and Tripp Vinson.

Bass will play the role of Ronnie, who’s described as funny, awkward and a skilled disco dancer. He falls in love with Rohrbach’s C.J. Parker character at the beach.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script. Production is expected to begin in the next few months.

Bass recently wrapped the Jeff Nichols movie “Loving” with Joel Edgerton and Michael Shannon. He was also a series regular on “Big Time in Hollywood, FL” for Comedy Central, and has guest starred on “House of Lies,” “The Newsroom” and “Girls.”

He’s repped by Gersh.
