RICHARDSON—Alamo Drafthouse and Deep Ellum Brewing Co. are teaming up to present a screening of Army of Darkness at which they'll debut a "deliciously devilish cask-conditioned Belgian IPA" aptly named Boomstick. The $25 ticket price includes a five-beer flight with a pint of Boomstick and a free commemorative pint glass. Following the film DEBC's John Reardon and Jeremy Hunt will host a Q&A. [EaterWire]

LOVERS LANE—Empire Baking Company will host a pop-up bake sale featuring Consilient pastry chef Laurel Wimberg this Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. (or until sold out). Featured items will include black walnut pie (which has been featured on the menu at AF+B), blueberry almond buckle, bacon cheddar scones and more; the event benefits local dog rescue group Duck Team 6. GALLERIA—The Second Floor at the Westin Galleria will celebrate National Heritage Bourbon Month (which apparently is September?) with a series of boozy specials including September 4: $5 house Old Fashioneds, September 11 from 4-8 p.m. $8 Knob Creek Flights; Sept. 18 $5 house Manhattans; September 25 from 4-8 p.m. Maker's 46 Picnic with tastings, cocktails and food.
