ECCO2 Chairman Cary Lee Peterson Explains Prior Comment to Press 'Green is Good, U.S. Fed Gov't Shutdown is Bad'

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwired - Oct 13, 2013) - Cary Lee Peterson, a global philanthropist, who is the founder, president, and chairman for Environmental Control of Carbon Dioxide Corporation ("ECCO2 Corp") spoke to the press earlier this week about his feelings on the U.S. federal government shutdown and how it will affect the households of U.S. federal workers and the workers of several privately owned and small businesses that are affiliated to the federal facilities and agencies that were shut down.

H.E. Cary Lee Peterson, who is an American businessman and serves as a goodwill ambassador to philanthropic and humanitarian causes as climate change, education, human rights, social and economic development, and job creation for U.S. veterans. Mr. Peterson previously told the press "Green (not greed) is good, U.S. federal government shutdown is definitely bad."

Today Mr. Peterson adds further comment to his 'Green is good…shutdown is bad' comment to the press and says that the federal government shutdown has affected many households of federal employees, in addition to the small and private-owned businesses that depend on federal government agencies for a sustainable income. H.E. Cary Lee Peterson further comments, "Imagine if you're that ferry boat crew member, souvenir shop cashier, shuttle bus driver, or foods vendor associated with the tourism at a national park. There are several times as many non-government workers that are affiliated with these federal government agencies [directly or indirectly] than actually federally government workers that are being affected by the shutdown this very moment. Green is indeed, good and shutdown is definitely bad. With the grace of God, I pray both political parties at the Hill can recognize this and focus on a sufficient compromise for the sake of the American workforce." Mr. Peterson also mentions his concerns about the shut down of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the environmental risks from natural disasters or climate change that will to leave Americans 'unaware' and 'unsecured' from potential hazards and vulnerabilities that could produce severe casualty losses and damages as those of the wildfire in Prescott, Arizona earlier this year.

Nearly two weeks ago on October 1, 2013 the U.S. federal government shut down due to lack of appropriate funds, forcing furloughs of 800,000 workers and suspension of services not exempted by the Antideficiency Act, while another 1.3 million workers were required to report to work without compensation until an appropriations bill is passed on Capitol Hill. This will be the first U.S. federal government shutdown since 1995-96, which lasted a total of 21 days.

ECCO2 has been in pursuit to increase global awareness on climate change, carbon-emissions reduction, social development, education, and energy-efficiency through its alliances with private and public sectors throughout the U.S., Eastern and Mediterranean Europe, West Africa (e.g.; Liberia and Senegal), the Mariana Islands (e.g.; Guam), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, the West Indies (e.g.; Haiti and Jamaica), and Latin America, in addition to participation events, meetings, and delegations at the United Nations since 2010.

As an admitted NGO partner for United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA NGO Branch), ECCO2 Corp will continue to participate in United Nations meetings and events to support UN Millennium Development Goals, in addition to implementation and planning for program development with financial aid partners, Member Parties, general contractors in active material definitive agreements (e.g.; RVPlus, Inc.) and affiliate NGO partners to enable job creation through Green Jobs for U.S. Veterans and New Millennium Economic Freedom City programs and contribute to growth in commerce for global economies.
