Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure raising prostate cancer awareness

From time to time, I like to spotlight stories like this to help balance all the negativity we see on a daily basis.

Friday night, MLB media personality Ed Randall (you may have seen him on MLB Network) is hosting an event to raise prostate cancern awareness for an indepedent ball team called the Somerset Patriots.

From a press release:

“Ed Randall’s Fans For The Cure,” in partnership with the Somerset Patriots, is holding “Prostate Cancer Awareness Night” at tonight’s home game. Fans attending the game will receive leaflet handouts containing pertinent information about the disease, and a PSA will be played on the scoreboard, both of which will provide information on how the disease can be detected and prevented.

Earlier this week (Sept. 16), "Ed Randall's Fans For the Cure held Prostate Cancer Awareness Night at the Long Island Ducks home game.

“Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure” is a nationally-recognized 501 (c)(3) charity that was founded by national baseball broadcaster Ed Randall, who is a prostate cancer survivor. The organization seeks to save lives by increasing awareness of prostate cancer through early detection, while also providing education and information about cutting-edge research to reduce risk, detect, and treatment.

Prostate Cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America, striking 240,000 men each year. Amazingly, there is close to a 97% cure rate if it is detected early enough.

For more information or to donate to the cause, check out Ed Randall's website. He's also having an event in the Arizona Fall League in October.
