Edo wants Akwa response

Gor axe two new signings

Akwa United captain Namso Edo is adamant his side are primed to challenge for the Nigeria Premier League title despite losing 1-0 to Enyimba at the weekend. The loss at Enyimba International Stadium was the Promise Keepers first of the current campaign, and sees them remain on 11 points and stay top of the League table on goal difference, following Bayelsa United's 2-0 win over Nembe. Edo, though, is confident his side can maintain their early season form and believes they played well against the People's Elephant even if they left Aba empty-handed. "We lost our first march for the season to Enyimba in Week 6, if you go by the result, Enyimba were the better side, but it was a high-class game for both sides," Edo told SuperSport. "However, one thing is certain that this one defeat has not taken us out of the hopes to pick a continental ticket at the end of the season and the title race. "We will remain focused and committed to realize our dreams of the 2013/2014 season, we will not give up, but fight till the last game of the season."
