DE Edwards remains with Panthers

The Carolina Panthers re-signed unrestricted free-agent defensive tackle Dwan Edwards, the team announced Wednesday.

Edwards is coming off a 2012 season in which he posted a career-high six sacks, ranking third among players at his position in the NFL. He started 14 games, missing two because of a wrist injury.

The nine-year veteran was released by the Buffalo Bills at the end of training camp last year. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2004 to 2009.

Edwards' career numbers in 97 games (61 starts) include 327 tackles, 11 1/2 sacks, two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and nine passes defensed.
