    Electricity Coming Back to Yellowstone Campground

    Record Breaking Attendance and No Power in RV Park

    Dateline Yellowstone National Park: According to the RV Business News, Yellowstone National Park has had record-breaking attendance this summer. All of the lodging and campgrounds have been full by mid-morning with The Fishing Bridge RV Park reserved throughout the summer months. 957,000 visitors came to the park in July beating last July's record by 60,000 visitors.

    The Fishing Bridge RV Park is the only hard sided big rig campground with hook-ups inside Yellowstone National Park. When it closed for the season last year the forty -year old electrical hook- up system was declared dangerous and unuseable, as reported by the RV Business News. This year the more than 300 sites have been without electrical hook -ups. The sewer and water hook-ups remain available at the campsites.

    The Fishing bridge RV Park does not have large campsites. Most RVs are tightly packed next to the unit beside them. This has made the hot summer months with temperatures topping the 90-degree mark, particularly unbearable for the RV owners who cannot run their air conditioners. The park is so tightly packed. It is almost impossible to get a breeze.

    There are only limited sites which will allow the use of a generator. Even if you do get a generator site you cannot use your generator between the hours of 8:P.M. and 8:00 A.M. During the daytime hours when generators are allowed the continuous use of so many generators running has created a noise and air pollution problem within the RV park. However, relief is on the way.

    The National Park System has come to an agreement with Xanterra Parks and Resorts who has the concession to operate The Fishing Bridge RV Park. The plan is to restore at least 100 sites with electrical hook-ups this year and have all sites upgraded by 2012.

    This is very good news for the RV camper that this popular RV park will have an electrical upgrade by next year. Fortunately there were no casualties caused by the deteriorated electrical system. However, it is hard to say if anyone had their rig's electrical system harmed by the old system. This is a warning to all us big rig camper's to always have a meter on-board to test the campground's electrical service.
