Ellen DeGeneres and Barack Obama Document Historical Moment on Her Show with a Selfie

If you didn't selfie, it didn't happen – and this is definitely a moment in Ellen Show history that must be documented.

Ellen Degeneres shared a self-portrait with President Obama on Instagram on Thursday, cementing a huge moment for her daytime talk show – the first time a sitting president has ever made an in-studio appearance.

"Selfie with the Chief @BarackObama," Degeneres, 58, captioned the snap of the two on her Los Angeles set.

Obama has actually made an in-studio appearance on the show, but it was in 2007 before he was elected. Since taking office, the president has made appearances via Skype and his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, has visited the show in person.

According to the Los Angeles Times, after filming the talk show – which will air on Friday – Obama made his way to a fundraiser in Hancock Park, hosted by the Democratic National Committee.
