The 2024 Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday.

The annual fundraising event, which is held in celebration of the museum's Costume Institute, is one of the most exclusive events of the year.

The gala draws attendees from industries as varied as tech and Hollywood. Invitees are hand-selected by Vogue's editor in chief, Anna Wintour, and this year, tickets cost $75,000 each. Vogue reported that last year's event raised a record-setting $22 million for the Costume Institute.

The Met Gala's theme changes each year, and celebrities such as Zendaya and Lana Del Rey embraced the "Garden of Time" dress code at this year's event.

Here were the best-dressed celebrities at the 2024 Met Gala.

Kylie Jenner's Oscar de la Renta dress showed off a subtler side of the mogul's style.

Jenner's silk gown had a pointed neckline with architectural detailing on the bodice.

The form-fitting gown, made of soft-pink silk, hit her at the ankle while a train flowed out from the back.

An updo with a flower completed the sophisticated look, which stood out from Jenner's past Met Gala ensembles.

Maria Sharapova brought a big splash of color to the Met Gala red carpet.

Sharapova sported a stunning bright-green Prabal Gurung dress, which was paired with a dramatic cape decorated with voluminous flowers.

Gurung told Town & Country that the gown was made with organic natural cotton.

"I wanted to blend the ideas of Sleeping Beauty and 'The Garden of Time,' combining the delicateness and floral elements into a couture gown," he added.

Rebecca Hall looked ethereal in a gray gown decorated with hand-painted flowers.

Hall's strapless Danielle Frankel dress was made with silk organza and printed with a watercolor effect. Flowers were also painted on Hall's arms to match her sheer gloves.

The actor and director told Vogue the gown's fabric immediately captured her.

"It looked like water made of flowers or flowers made of water, but there was so much depth I found it intriguing," she said.
"When I put it on, it made me feel like Ophelia resuscitated and walking out of the lake dripping with flowers — and I thought, 'Yes, that's a strong concept to work with.'"

Cynthia Erivo perfectly embodied the "Garden of Time" theme in a Thom Browne tuxedo set

Her look featured a crop top and trailing skirt covered in flower petals. She accessorized the look with a matching pink bag, and a single dragonfly brooch adorned the back of her head.

Erivo told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet that her outfit was inspired by the idea of running through a garden.

Alia Bhatt honored her culture in a custom sari by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

The actor's mint-green sari gown was covered in crystals and floral embroidery that took more than 1,900 hours to create, Vogue reported.

Sarah Jessica Parker brought Victorian-inspired drama to the red carpet.

The "And Just Like That" actor wore a champagne-colored, tea-length gown covered in hand-cut lace with a hoop-skirt silhouette. She paired the Richard Quinn look with a dramatic Philip Treacy fascinator and long pearl jewelry.

"I have always been fascinated by the enduring beauty of archival clothing from times gone by," Quinn told Vogue. "With this dress, we wanted to play on the idea of preservation; the dress appears so fragile as to be almost ephemeral, but with care and consideration, it has been built to last."

Steven Yeun brought something different to the carpet in a textured suit.

From afar, his tuxedo appeared to be standard black. But up close, you could see that his Thom Browne set was decorated with an all-black floral print.

He wore the outfit with shining black boots, a matching bow tie, and a closed umbrella that he carried up the red carpet

Janelle Monáe stunned in sequins.

Monáe's shimmering gown was custom-made by Vera Wang. It had wide waist cutouts, a halter neckline, and a see-through skirt that reached the floor.

But what made the dress stand out was its oversize sequins, which covered every inch of its sheer fabric.

Greta Lee's Loewe dress played with texture and shape.

Lee's dress was made of a gauzy white fabric that was almost entirely sheer. The gown had a relaxed fit, but its neckline had an inverted scoop nearly covering Lee's face.

It was adorned with white flowers from the neckline to its short train, adding to its whimsical feel.

Jennifer Lopez's silver Schiaparelli gown embraced the dress code with sparkly, floral appliqués.

The form-fitting dress was sheer apart from the sparkle detailing, which looked like branches on the strapless bodice.

A delicate train added glamour to the bold ensemble, which Lopez paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Tyla's form-fitting gown, which was made from sand, was one of the most talked about of the night.

Balmain designed Tyla's one-of-a-kind gown, which showed her entire silhouette.

It had a curved, strapless neckline and a full train, and she carried an hourglass purse with it.

Colman Domingo's black-and-white look from Willy Chavarria featured a cape.

Domingo's ensemble consisted of a white blazer and wide-leg black pants.

Black ruffles that looked like flowers sat on one lapel, and a cape was attached to his jacket. Domingo also carried lilies with him as he walked the carpet

Ayo Edebiri's halter gown captured the dress code perfectly with its ombre floral pattern.

The Loewe dress' white bodice flowed into bright colors, almost as if the flowers were blooming, and strips of floral-embellished fabric flowed over the open back.

Eddie Redmayne's illusion ensemble popped at the Met Gala.

The actor's Steve O Smith look consisted of a blazer and skirt. Both were made of black and sheer fabric, making it seem as if pieces of the suit were missing.

An underlayer of tulle sat beneath the skirt, which looked like pants from a distance.

Elle Fanning's see-through gown was actually made of glass.

Balmain designed the artistic piece with off-the-shoulder straps that looked as if they were being carried by glass birds.

It also had a bodice that looked as though it wrapped around her torso and a floor-length skirt that flowed into a tulle train.

She completed the look with a blonde bob and diamond jewelry.

Lana Del Rey looked as though she'd stepped out of a fairytale.

Alexander McQueen custom-made the musician's gown, which was tan and decorated with brown branches.

Twigs extended above her head and held a draped piece of tan tulle in place like a veil.

Del Rey also wore a rose-shaped bracelet around her wrist.

Cardi B's black ball gown took over the entire carpet.

It took at least eight men to help Cardi B spread the round train of her dress around her and carry it up the Metropolitan Museum steps.

Her gown, which also had a form-fitting bodice and ruffled off-the-shoulder sleeves, matched her sky-high hairstyle.

Mindy Kaling's gown was more like an art piece.

Gaurav Gupta designed her sculptural gown, which swirled around the floor, up her torso, and above her head.

It also had a sweetheart neckline that gave the garment some glamour, and Kaling completed the look with diamond jewelry.

Gigi Hadid's gown evoked old Hollywood glamour.

Thom Browne designed her white gown, which had off-the-shoulder straps and a ruffled, floor-length skirt. Yellow roses contrasted with the dark color of the skirt's black lining.

Hadid completed the look with red lipstick and a curled bob.

Demi Moore brought some dramatic flair to the Met Gala steps.

Moore's black and pink column gown was designed by Harris Reed and made entirely out of vintage archival wallpaper, the designer told Ashley Graham on the Met Gala red carpet.

"It's all 11,000 hours of silk embroidery, and then we've literally repurposed it into this Victorian idea, basically of her blooming on the carpet." Reed said, adding, "I wanted to basically be the vines to her thorns."

Moore said the dress, which featured a heart-shaped shoulder piece with spikes along the edges, wasn't heavy and made her "want to rumba."

Phoebe Dynevor looked pretty in pink with her sheer gown.

Dynevor swapped her "Bridgerton" blue for an ultra-feminine Victoria Beckham gown. Vogue reported that she was the first person to wear the designer to the Met.

The pink gown was almost entirely sheer, save for some strategically placed floral appliqués.

Zendaya walked the Met Gala steps twice. Her second look was even better than her first.

At the end of the night, Zendaya walked the red carpet in a dramatic black gown with a long, flowing train.

She purchased the 1996 Givenchy haute-couture dress, which was designed by John Galliano, from Lily et Cie — the vintage Beverly Hills boutique owned by Rita Watnick.

Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger and Tommy Hilfiger were the epitome of fashion royalty.

The American fashion designer stepped onto the red carpet wearing a red satin blazer, navy trousers, and a white button-up shirt with a black bowtie.

He looked great, but his wife and fellow designer Dee looked even better. She wore a tan, floral-print gown with a sleeveless bodice, plunging V-neckline, and a hooded cape.

The fashion designer Harris Reed wore a statement jumpsuit and matching hat.

The top of his outfit extended past his shoulders almost like leaves, and fabric wrapped around his hips gave the garment dimension and texture.

Not only was the printed outfit eye-catching on the red carpet, but it also looked like an art piece, especially when paired with its matching hat.

Keke Palmer had one of the best fashion moments of her career.

She wore a custom Marc Jacobs piece designed to showcase art and fashion's fragility. Its mesh fabric was ripped and frayed across its skirt, and its sleeves featured similar tears.

Palmer completed the look with Almasika jewelry.
