"One Tree Hill" star Chad Michael Murray's perspective on his acting career lately has been influenced by fatherhood.

"I would say, a lot of material, especially over the past five to eight years since my son was born, I choose because I think one of the last things you really want is for your kids to be berated in school for what their parents are doing," Murray said in a recent interview with Numéro.

Murray and his wife Sarah Roemer, who co-starred on the TV show "Chosen," have three children together. The pair haven't publicly disclosed any of their names, but occasionally share photos of their kids on social media. As their children get older, the self-proclaimed "family guy" said he's become more selective about what roles he accepts.

"I don't want my kids going to school, being freshman in high school, and dad's butt posted all over their locker," Murray explained. "That's not fair to them, so making decisions for that has been great."

Their eldest child, a son, was born in 2015

In January 2015, Us Weekly confirmed that Murray and Roemer quietly got married and were expecting their first baby together.

Murray announced the birth of their child on X (formerly known as Twitter) in May 2015.

In one post, the actor apologized for missing Buffalo Bills player Jim Kelly's charity event because he and Roemer were "blessed with a son."

"Gods greatest gift," Murray said.

"Sarah & I couldn't b happier & intend 2 spend many a day having family adventures & watching @buffalobills football! & also @Chargers now," he wrote in an additional post.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Murray said that fatherhood was "the greatest thing that's ever happened to me."

"It's a game changer," he said. "I think you're always walking around with the mentality of trying to make sure that they're proud, and you want to represent them well and just be a great leader."

The couple's second child, a daughter, was born 2 years later

Murray revealed the birth of his daughter in March 2017 by sharing a photo of the newborn's hand wrapped around his finger.

"Don't worry little girl you can hold on as tight as you want for as long as you want, I'm already yours & I'll never let go," Murray captioned the Instagram post. "I've now two incredible women in my life. My son & I are two lucky guys. @rooeemer."

Murray and Roemer welcomed their third baby, a daughter, in August 2023

The couple shared the news with fans on Instagram, posting the same photo of their newborn, who has a heart-shaped birthmark on her leg.

"So blessed and feeling so very grateful. We've added to our pack with our new little girl," Murray wrote. "The Odds on this as her birthmark must be 8 billion to 1 or close [laughing crying emoji]. Thank you all for so much love and warmth with our baby news:) Everyone's healthy and loved."

Murray told Numéro that he's "a family guy" and tries to keep his home life "very grounded."

"And I love my job, but this is also my job," he said of parenthood. "I'm making sure that I'm there every day, that we travel together as a pack, so we don't break up the pack when we travel."
