Insiders Claim Kelly Preston’s Death Made John Travolta Do a 180 on This Part of His Life With Scientology

It’s no secret that after Kelly Preston died in 2020, John Travolta has been rather low-key from the public eye. Despite a few appearances with their kids and an alleged romance blooming between him and Kristin Davis, Travolta has been quite private, and apparently, a lot has changed behind closed doors.

An insider told Closer Weekly that he’s even been distant from Scientology.

“His religion doesn’t seem to be the biggest priority for him anymore either. Since Kelly’s passing he’s just not as connected to Scientology as he once was,” the insider said. “Bottom line, John is afraid to open up, to be vulnerable again and fall in love, which is very sad because he’s the kindest, nicest guy and he has one of the biggest hearts of anyone we know.”

Travolta has been with the controversial Church of Scientology since the 1970s, and while there have been reports over the years of him leaving, he’s stayed with them. He previously told Kevin Hart on his podcast, “At that moment it worked for me, and it still works for me.”

Per DailyMail, Sam Domingo, a VIP member of Scientology even called Preston the “driving force behind [John’s] involvement,” so it makes sense that while he’s still with the Church, he may not be as involved since his wife’s death.

For those who don’t know, Preston and Travolta met on the set of The Experts in 1987, and years prior, Preston talked about how Travolta was her celebrity crush. Their romance blossomed quickly, and they married just three years later in 1991. They welcomed three children in their marriage: a son named Jett, who was born on April 1992 and tragically died in 2009, a daughter named Ella Bleu, born on April 2000, and another on named Benjamin, born on Nov 2010.

Travolta and Preston were together until her passing in 2020.
