Erika likely to weaken to tropical depression on Saturday: NHC

(Reuters) - Tropical Storm Erika, moving into the Dominican Republic with heavy rains and gusty winds, is likely to weaken to a tropical depression on Saturday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Friday. The storm is about 95 miles (155 km) west-southwest of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, and is moving west at 21 mph (34 kph) with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (85 kph), the Miami-based weather-forecaster said in its latest update.
