Estoril beats Maritimo to stay in 4th in Portugal

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Estoril beat Maritimo 1-0 at home despite playing with 10 men for 50 minutes, increasing its hold on fourth place in the Portuguese league on Saturday.

Forward Joao Galvao scored the winner in the 11th minute from a pass by Goncalo Goncalves before teammate Ruben Fernandes was dismissed with a red card in the 40th for tackling Danilo Pereira.

Estoril's win moved it to within four points of third-place FC Porto before the defending champion visits second-place Sporting Lisbon on Sunday.

Sergio Oliveira's 84th-minute goal gave Pacos Ferreira a 2-1 win at Guimaraes, provisionally lifting it out of last place.

Rio Ave won 2-1 at Gil Vicente.

Leader Benfica visits Nacional on Monday.
