Euro falls against the dollar as initial Italian election results come in

NEW YORK (AP) -- The euro fell against the dollar Monday as investors await the outcome of the Italian general election.

Early results show that the race is very close, raising the possibility of new elections. That could derail efforts to resolve Italy's fiscal problems.

The euro fell to $1.3121 late Monday from $1.3180 late Friday.

The British pound fell to $1.5192 from $1.5242.

The dollar rose to 0.9305 Swiss franc from 0.9303 Swiss franc and to 1.0262 Canadian dollar from 1.0231 Canadian dollar.

The dollar fell to 92.58 Japanese yen from 93.42 Japanese yen
