Even Stan Lee Hasn’t Watched The Fantastic Four Reboot

Just in case you don’t know, the recent reboot of the ‘Fantastic Four’ was a humungous failure. So much so in fact that it’s already been labelled as a box office bomb.

Even though it failed to connect with a widespread audience you would have thought that Stan Lee, the co-creator of the comics, would have dismissed the naysayers and gone to catch-up with the beloved gang.

But it turns out that not even Lee was interested, because during a recent interview with Larry King on Ora.tv, via Comic Book, the Marvel wonder admitted that he’s still yet to see it.

After being asked to pass comment on the failure of ‘Fantastic Four’, Stan Lee explained, “I haven’t seen it yet, so I really can’t comment.”

Lee then teased that he didn’t go to see ‘Fantastic Four’ because he wasn’t invited to film his customary cameo in it. In fact he even predicted that his omission was why the film has so far only generated $146.3 million at the box office.

When asked about the cinematic catastrophe, Lee added, “Well, it was probably because I didn’t have a cameo in it, and they didn’t discuss the story with me.”

And while Stan Lee is of course entitled to his own opinion, the real reason for ‘Fantastic Four’s’ failure was the juggernaut of issues that seem to have swirled around its production ever since it was announced.

Fan-boys were furious with the deviation from the source material, director Josh Trank allegedly struggled on set, Fox then supposedly took over the edit, while Trank then made sure that even its opening weekend would be hindered as he posted a Tweet that criticised the released version.

All in all, ‘Fantastic Four’s’ reboot was a failure from beginning to end, and it would take a huge leap of faith for Fox to continue with the planned sequel, which is still touted for a June 9, 2017, release.
