    Evicted Occupy Philly protesters arrested

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police have begun arresting a group of roving marchers who left the Occupy Philadelphia encampment near City Hall after officers evicted protesters.

Police began pulling down tents at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday after telling demonstrators they had to leave. A group of protesters who left Dilworth Plaza began roving through downtown, their march coming to an end with arrests around 5 a.m.

About two dozen protesters were lined up in cuffs and being loaded on to buses by officers who penned in the march near 15th and Spring Garden streets.

The action comes more than two days after the deadline for protesters to leave. They had camped on the plaza since Oct. 6 to protest economic inequality and corporate influence on government.

A $50 million renovation project is planned for the plaza.

Good, they were told they had to leave and refused to do so. That is how the way the world works, your "freedom of speech" right ends when you start breaking the law.
There are hundreds of retail stores hiring right now and those jobs are not hard to get. These people need to get rid of their pride and get a job

God bless Mayor Nutter. After issuing false flyers labled "Midnight Drum Circle in Rittenhouse" the police had themselves enough time to tear down their camp without violence. Way to go!

Most of them are drug addicted bums. They smocked crack in front of police. Take it from the rich and give it to the poor, so everyone is poor. Great idea. Socialism, communism? What ever you call it, but never worked. Hope and change? You got it. End of America.

One Occupy Phila. woman got bumped by a police horse and will now probably sue for injuries - of course she and her lawyer will forget to mention that the protesters were charging the horses, screaming at them, and swinging their arms to scare the poor animals. Yeah, nice peaceful folks.

These people are lost souls looking for a cause...ANY cause so they can act out their frustration, hiding behind freedom of speech nonsense from a constitution that most never read....

this story doesn't say why they were arrested. They had left the park, walking down the street. since when does that qualify for arrest?

Hey Bo! You don't even know what socialism is, and as far as communism goes it has never been tried anywhere. The Soviet Union & China, etc., were never Communists, they wouldn't know a Marxist even if you gave them a copy of Das Kapital. Our system is just as phony with the two party nonsense we have here.
