Evidently, Rand Paul's Son Assaulted a Flight Attendant While Drunk

New details have emerged about William Hilton Paul's very fun flight to Charlotte last week, a voyage that ended with the 19-year-old in the slammer and his senator father in a very embarrassing position. Well, things just got worse for both Kentucky gentlemen. In addition to underage drinking, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive, it's now been disclosed that Paul the younger faces "a misdemeanor assault on a female by aggressive physical force," The Charlotte Observer reports. The police's narrative about the college student possibly being served alcohol on the plane stands. Who knows why he turned around and assaulted one of the flight attendants. (Maybe he wanted more booze?) It's also unclear why the assault charge wasn't disclosed sooner.

This development is bad for William's dad, Kentucky Senator and presidential hopeful Rand Paul, for obvious reasons. While it was sort of funny when we heard Will got a little tipsy in the air, it's not funny at all that he assaulted a woman, much less a woman who was just trying to do her job. Accordingly, Sen. Paul's office would rather we just don't talk about what happened. "Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena," Paul's office said in a statement after the incident. "However, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this."
