Ex-al-Qaida spokesman to testify at New York trial

NEW YORK (AP) — The lawyer for Osama bin Laden's son-in-law says his client will testify on his own behalf at his New York terrorism trial.

Attorney Stanley Cohen made the surprise announcement Wednesday. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith (SOO'-lay-mahn AH'-boo GAYTH') has pleaded not guilty to charges that he conspired to kill Americans and aid al-Qaida after the Sept. 11 attacks.
