    Ex-CA mayor admits stealing mixer to make pizza

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — The former mayor of a Los Angeles suburb has pleaded guilty to stealing a commercial food mixer from the local school district so he could make dough for his home pizza oven.

    Los Angeles County prosecutors say Larry Guidi entered the plea Wednesday to a felony count of grand theft. He was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and one year's probation. A commercial burglary charge was dismissed.

    Guidi was a warehouse operations manager for the Hawthorne School District until he was fired last year. Prosecutors say a security camera recorded him loading the giant mixer and a cart into his pickup truck in 2010.

    The $1,300 mixer was later returned.

    Guidi was the mayor of Hawthorne for nearly 20 years but didn't run for re-election last year.

      I hope this guy gets some help. He should be required to attend PA (Pizza's Anonymous) meetings to work on his addiction. Really, if he needs such a huge mixer, he must have an abnormal attraction to pizzas. Normal people buy a KitchenAid with all the attachments to mix enough pizza dough to feed a party.

      How much pizza dough did he need? When I was a kid my mom used to get tired of my sister and brother and me getting rambunctious. You know how energetic kids are. So she would get ten pounds of flour, one cake of yeast, water and three kids and we would make bread dough. We happily made bread dough because she would make two loaves of bread from it, one was devoured still hot from the oven, about two or three pizzas on cookie sheets and if there was any dough left she made pizza frit, not sure how to spell that but it means fried pizza which are 'elephant ears' at the State Fair. Mom just used sugar on the pizza frit, no cinnamon. She got her reward because in the process of kneading that ten pounds of flour all three of us kids were exhausted. By the time that dough was ready to be set aside to rise, we were more than ready for naps. That was the best bread dough and pizza dough and all it was made from was flour, water and yeast, no oil, no salt...the original Italian bread recipe.

      It is not enough that he bilked the city out of an exorbanent salary and benefits package... he thought he 'deserved' even more. LITTLE PIGGIE... And what is this that he does NOT get JAIL TIME??? You or I would be thrown in jail if we stole something like that. The fact that he was a public servant (or former one).. means that his penalty should be even MORE severe for breaking the public trust! I am so tired of politicians that break the law getting such a pathetically light sentence!

      Ayy, it was quality control - someone had to make sure the mixer worked. And he was doing it on his own time! {Actually that was probably where he went wrong, if he'd been on the city clock, No Problem!}

        LOL! Yes! Some of them. I ask that question to a friend of mine from CA all the time. I think, they let too many people out of jail that should have longer sentences. That way, they have more repeat offenders. If Lindsay Lohan stayed in jail longer, she wouldn't have been out to commit her next crime.
