Ex-Hawaiian Airlines CEO to lead Island Air

Former Hawaiian Airlines CEO to lead billionaire Larry Ellison's airline, Island Air

HONOLULU (AP) -- A former Hawaiian Airlines president will become the new CEO of the interisland carrier recently purchased by billionaire Larry Ellison.

Paul Casey will take the helm of Island Air on May 1.

Island Air Director Paul Marinelli said in a news release Monday Casey will be instrumental to the growth of the airline as it adds aircraft and expands service.

Marinelli says Les Murashige will continue as Island Air's president and be responsible for day-to-day operations. He will report to Casey.

Casey was Hawaiian Airlines' CEO from 1997 to 2002. He was the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau's president from 1995 to 1997 and continues to serve on its board.

Ellison bought Island Air in February. The Oracle Corp. CEO bought 98 percent of the land on Lanai last year.
