Ex-Mayor Ed Koch's furniture, art at NYC auction

NEW YORK (AP) — A set of six Frank Lloyd Wright chairs owned by former New York City Mayor Edward Koch (KAHCH) has sold for more than $11,000 at an auction.

That's more than three times the presale high estimate of $3,500.

A matching Wright dining room table sold for $1,375 at the Doyle New York auction house.

Koch's favorite leather chair and ottoman brought $875. They had been estimated at upward of $300.

Both prices included the buyer's premium.

Doyle is auctioning the items from the former mayor's Greenwich (GREN'-ich) Village home in two sessions. On Monday, it is selling furniture, decorative arts and paintings. Next week, Koch's correspondence with heads of state, his books and other ephemera are scheduled to be sold.

The three-term former mayor died in February at the age of 88.
